This Commandment, in Exodus 20:17, is not about doing something.

This commandment is about thinking about doing something. It leads to us breaking one of the other commandments.

If we covet our neighbor's car, it leads to stealing or cheating so we can get it or one like it. If we covet our neighbor's wife, it leads to adultery. Therefore, we can sin by breaking this commandment without anyone knowing, but God.
