Most Christians think that this is the easiest commandment. They feel that they do not worship other gods, but it may be
the most difficult commandment to obey. We put money, our business, our family, ourselves, pleasure, and many other things
before god all the time.
In Matthew 19:16-25,
Jesus tells the rich young man to give away all his possessions. The rich young man walks away sad. This
is not about riches being bad, it is about how hard it is to keep God first. The rich young man had put his riches above
God. He was not willing to give up his riches for God.
This is an example of how we put our desires before our devotion to God. How can we say that we have made Jesus our Lord and
Master, when we put our desires before Him. God has to be our first desire. We must not put other desires before God.
Some of us have many other gods before Him. We put money and sex, money and power, sex and partying, or all these things
before God. We are like the rich young man who lives a good life, but is not willing to give up his riches to put God first
in his life.
As mentioned above, this may be the hardest of all the Commandments to follow. If you can put God first in your life, obeying the other Commandments
will be easier.

gods before Him. Since this is the first commandment, it is also the most important commandment.
